We just wanted a place where the beer is good, the people are real, and everyone feels at home.

Dented Keg Ale Works is a family owned craft brewery and taproom at 5500 Main Street in Historic Downtown New Port Richey, Florida. Founded by Rick Sommer in October 2020 after more than twenty years of homebrewing, the brewery started with a simple idea: brew good beer, treat people right, and build a place the neighborhood is proud to call its own.
The space has an industrial feel with exposed ductwork, concrete, and warm string lighting. The bar runs along one side with the brewing system right behind it, so you can watch a batch being made while you work through your pint. There is a patio out front where dogs are welcome, and inside you will find regulars catching up, families grabbing a table, and first-timers working through a flight. People tell us it feels like Cheers in here.
We are open six days a week and there is something happening almost every night. Trivia on Wednesdays, bingo on Thursdays, board games on Sundays, plus book club, fly tying, coloring nights, and more throughout the month. People come for the beer and stick around for the company. That is the part we are most proud of.

Dented Keg was voted Business of the Year by the Downtown New Port Richey community. Opening a brewery during 2020 was not great timing, but the neighborhood showed up from day one and never stopped. Downtown has been going through a revival with new shops and restaurants opening along Main Street, and being recognized by the people who live and work here means more to us than any review ever could.
The award sits behind the bar next to a collection of dented kegs that gave the place its name. Rick still brews every batch himself, and you can usually find him on the other side of the bar talking hops with anyone who will listen. No corporate playbook. Just a guy who loves beer, a family that runs the place, and a neighborhood that keeps coming back.
